Safety First Service Always (Saluti Primum, Auxilio Semper)

What is a life worth to you? What is your environment worth? What is the likelihood of an earthquake in our future? If the Comox Marine Traffic and Communications Station closes, the remaining Victoria and Prince Rupert MCTS stations lie within a tsunami zone. Coast Guard Commissioner Jody Thomas stated in an inquiry that that they are protected because a tsunami would probably only reach a height of 2m and they are 2m above that height. Do you want to take that risk? Do you remember the photographs of the tsunami in Japan in 2011? The height of the tsunami there reached run-up heights of 39m. It's less than two weeks until the station in Comox (not in a tsunami zone) will be closed. The government is reviewing the ban on heavy tanker traffic on the North Coast of British Columbia. This is a recipe for disaster. As much protection as possible needs to be in place. So is it "Safety First, Service Always"? Not from my vantage point.
