Petition Sent to Prime Minister Trudeau

Below is a copy of the email text I sent just moments ago to Prime Minister Trudeau. Note that I added my real name and city at the end of the letter, but have chosen to remain A Concerned Citizen online. Thank you! ~~ Dear Mr. Prime Minister, There are many people who are concerned about your upcoming visit to Washington, D.C, and meeting with Donald Trump. We believe that you should not meet with him, in light of his many and ongoing issues regarding human rights, ethics, and decency. Some of those issues include gagging the EPA, the building of a wall between the US and Mexico, issuing a Global Gag Rule and, of course, vilifying immigrants (Muslims in particular) with his attempted Travel Ban. Trump is acting more like a dictator than the leader of a democracy. The supporters of this petition (list attached as a CVS) are few in number due to the lack of time we had, and the number of other petitions going around. However, they include both citizens of Canada and the United States who hope you will stand up for Canada's committment to human rights, ethical conduct, and decency. We understand that it's likely your meeting will go forward as planned, but we hope you take the time to consider our thoughts and comments (attached as a PDF) regarding the matter. I have also provided a link to the petition, which will remain open for the time being, so you can view other comments added after receiving this email. If you do meet with him, please publicly stand up and speak plainly to him about the concerns he has caused. Please condemn his acts of dictatorial conduct. Help him to understand that what he is doing does not fall in line with Canadian values, or the values of any democratic, peace-loving nation.
