Declare Autism Therapy as Medically Necessary in Canada, and Fund it Adequately

The Issue

12 US states have deemed autism therapy as a medically necessary treatment, and the United Kingdom has established a federally funded autism program via their National Health Service (NHS). It's time for Canada as a nation to adopt a federally funded autism program, declare autism therapy as medically necessary under the conditions of the Canada Health Act, and set a positive example for the rest of the world to follow as it pertains to diagnosing and treating autism spectrum disorder.
