Pelvic floor symptoms are part of a new normal women learn to live with. and their complaints are dismissed by both the medical community and society.
Incontinence, which is an involuntary loss of urine, gas, or stool, is one of the more common issues women face. It’s a problem that results from damage to pelvic floor muscles, nerves, and supporting fascia. And, it’s a problem that’s generally widespread in Canada.
83% of college educated women do not know about the pelvic floor muscles and the role they play in pregnancy and delivery.
In France, it’s the standard of care for every new mom to receive PT after she delivers a baby. Specifically, women are prescribed 10 to 20 sessions of la rééducation périnéale.
We need more educational resources on pelvic floor health to be available to all women in all stages of their lives and a standard of care for prevention and healing for prenatal and postnatal women. Please sign this petition to raise awareness to the Federal Government of Canada to ensure women are receiving educational resources on prevention and the 10 - 20 sessions of pelvic floor rehabilitation after pregnancy, for a better quality of life.
