On February 1st, 2017, Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Government, who have a majority government in Parliament, decided to scrap the idea of electoral reform. Electoral Reform was a key part of their platform in the election and Prime Minister Trudeau even said that 2015 would be the last election with a "majority rules" setup. The current electoral system gives 100% of the power to the party that recieves 51% of the seats in Parliament, effectively silencing all other voices.
