Kathryn Squitieri started this petition to New York City Councilmember Justin Brannan and

Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights have suffered from reckless development that has had destructive consequences to our community.

Our historical landscapes of Victorian and Edwardian homes, architecture that gives origin and culture to our community, are swiftly being destroyed in favor of luxury condos, high-priced apartment buildings, and post-modernist style single family homes.

We have failed to preserve our historic homes and architecturally, and culturally significant structures. The home at 8315 13th Ave was the latest to be torn down a few months ago, along with other structures like the Church of St. Rosalia, South Brooklyn's first Italian Catholic Church, which was demolished in September of last year.

Shouldn't we SAVE our historic structures and preserve our community? Brooklyn is full of historic architecture: from Park Slope to Cobble Hill to Carroll Gardens and Ditmas Park, all of which have landmarked homes and historic districts.

Why not Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights?

Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights are also worthy of maintaining historical significance through its architecture and its ABOUT TIME we band together and make our voices heard.

We are going to start this movement with saving the beautiful wood-frame corner home that is 7604 4th Ave!
