On 30 March 2022, 11 year old Relebogile Segami was reported missing and a search party was initiated, unfortunately, her body was discovered on 31 March 2022, behind the Northern Cape Legislature in Kimberley. An intense multi-disciplined investigation, led by the South African Police Services team of investigators was activated and the suspect was arrested.

The man accused of raping and killing Relebogile is 24-year-old man Itumeleng Machabe from Galeshewe in Kimberley. Machabe is also facing a further charge of raping a 15-year-old girl. After multiple postponements Machabe will appear in court for his bail hearing on 13 October 2022.

We the concerned community members of Galeshewe in Kimberley Sol-Plaatje Municipality the Northern Cape call on the National Prosecuting Authority and the Galeshewe Magistrate Court to deny Machabe bail.
