On January 22, 1979, John Duffy aka John Marino, brutally murdered my 15 yr old brother, James Francis Connelly, he stabbed him more than 30 times, the ME stated at trial, that he stopped counting after a certain amount of stab wounds, as there were just too many more to count.
Jimmy, as he was known to all, had his head nearly severed by deep, deliberate lacerations that stretched ear to ear. The ME stated Jimmy had 8 stab wounds around his heart in a "perfect pattern", it is my family's premise that Duffy attempted to cut Jimmy's heart out, he FAILED! Even deceased Jimmy had more heart than Duffy.
He eluded police for over 18 mos, running up & down the east coast. He was aided by his family's mob ties.
After he was captured and released on bail, awaiting trial for Jimmy's murder, two years to the date he murdered Jimmy, we were told he attacked and injured a woman in Manhattan, who was hospitalized with injuries. He used an alias, a family member's name, when he was captured for that crime he was released on bail again in NYC and his bail revocation for Jimmy's murder, that should have been automatic, fell through the cracks. After he was convicted of Jimmy's murder the woman refused to press charges believing that he was going to jail for life.
After receiving a sentence of no less than 20 years and no more than his natural life, after 34 yrs, NYS Division of Parole has deemed Duffy a good candidate for release into a civilized society of the boroughs of NY, as soon as today, without even mentioning his many, many infractions while incarcerated and UNDER supervision, I ask, do you want this man as your neighbor? Near your children, young teens, girlfriends, wives or mothers?
Please sign and share far and wide, we demand JUSTICE for 15 yr old James Francis Connelly, we believe the brutality & depravity of this murder and Duffy's subsequent actions cry out that he serves the MAXIMUM of his sentence, LIFE!!!
Tell NYS & Governor Andrew Cuomo this is UNACCEPTABLE to the law abiding citizens of NY and he needs to step in and overturn the decision made by the NYS Division of Parole.
Remember this is not a person who follows the law or rules of a civilized society, even while IN prison, there is no way to know where he will once again take off to and abscond from law enforcement and his parole requirements, any state in this country could see him as a neighbor as soon as today.
