Justice for Alexandra Diengo Lumbayi:

Supporting her family and contesting the Report of Coroner Mr Steeve Poisson.
On October 2, 2024, Alexandra Martins Diengo Lumbayi, a 21 year old Congolese student, was last seen on île Saint Quentin in Trois-Rivieres, Québec.

Her lifeless body was found on October 8, 2024 in the waters of St.Lawrence River, opposite Saint-Quentin Island. A student  in business administration at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivieres (UQTR), Alexandra was known for her seriousness and academic dedication.
Originally from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, she had chosen Canada to pursue her higher education.
Alexandra's disappearance and tragic death aroused great emotion in the student community, the Congolese diaspora and the entire international community. An initial petition was launched, gathering over 26,732 signatures, to demand à thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

At the same time, a solidarity fund had been set up to support her family through this difficult ordeal, and a significant $26,000 was raised, testifying to the solidarity shown towards Alexandra's family.

However, the outrage was amplified when the Coroner's findings were leaked to the media before the family had even been informed, adding to their grief and raising questions about respect for procedure and the dignity of loved ones. In his conclusion, the Coroner dismissed the criminal theory and put forward drowning as the cause of death, without providing any convincing facts!

In view of the Coroner's findings, we call for continued mobilization to:
1- Make the Coroner's report and its appendices available to parents, in accordance with sections 90.1 and 101 of the Coroners Act for public inquiries.
2- Total transparency of the elements of the inquest to avoid any concealment of the facts.

Justice for Alexandra Martins Diengo Lumbayi, with all the rigor and impartiality required. Justice for Alexandra! Truth for her memory! Unwavering support for her family!
