To the Royal Embassy of the Islamic Republic of xx May 20, 2021
The ongoing oppression in Palestine and the worldwide silence
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
Your Excellency,
We draw your attention to the ongoing state of oppression in Palestine, where Muslim families continu to be expelled from their homes, men, women and children are victims of bombings by Israel, worshippers are being attacked inside the Masjid Al-Aqsa during their prayers. While the atrocities in Gaza are continuing to increase and well known to the world, the international community is showing a complete disregard to the ongoing indiscriminate and violent attacks resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people, many of them children.
Moreover, the silence of the Muslim ummah for the last five decades is a far greater concern. As our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ peace be upon Him said: “The similitude of believers in regard to mutual love, affection, fellow-feeling is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body aches, because of sleeplessness and fever” (Sahih al Muslim Book 78, Hadith 42).
We have a moral, human, and religious duty to do whatever in our power to help our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters undergoing suffering at a scale which none of us can begin to imagine. There lies a great responsibility on the shoulders of leaders of the Muslim ummah in this regard. It is with deep sadness that we are witnessing that barely any of the 57 Muslim majority countries have made any meaningful efforts to clearly condemn Israeli state terrorism. Experience of the last 50 years has shown that there is no benefit in just giving perfunctory formal statements.
The time has come for Muslim leaders to take joint action using the platform of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC). We call on you for a response which should not merely be of words, and ask you for concrete actions for reaching a durable and peaceful resolution which would allow Palestinians to live in freedom in a state of their own. Israel continues to break United Nations Security Council Resolutions, and the UN has so far proven to be unable to give an adequate response.
The Muslim leaders should therefore not rest after taking the issue to UN, they should also make every political and diplomatic effort to stop the suffering of the oppressed Muslims around the globe, it be Palestinians, Rohingyas, Kashmiris, Uyghurs or any other nation or people. It must be made both short- and long-term policies which may include, a total boycott of Israel, breaking all diplomatic relations, and giving a clear warning to Israel that it has to stop its ongoing state terrorism in Palestine etc.
It is worth remembering that our Islamic history clearly teach us that the success of this ummah does not rely only on economically or military strength, but first and foremost on relying on our Lord, Allah Almighty and by the unity of the ummah.
For how long will we witness our Muslim brothers being tortured, our mothers & sisters being badly humiliated, innocent children being directly shot dead by Israeli forces. This zionist agenda will not stop in Palestine, and if not timely addressed will attack Muslim countries one by one. The time to unite is now, Palestine is burning.
If ye turn back (from the Path), He will substitute in your stead another people; then they would not be like you! (Al-Quran 47:38).
The purpose of this letter is to remind you about your great responsibility as a Muslim leader, and to remind you that you will have to stand before your Lord, Allah Almighty and will have to answer what you actually did to protect your fellow Muslims as well as others from this bloodshed.
On the behalf of the Muslim communities around the globe, we kindly ask your excellency, to convey this letter to the H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. the Prime Minister of the xx, and ask H.E. Mr. President to make efforts to take the necessary actions in this regard.
We will be looking forward to your positive response to this letter.
