The Issue

(Bahasa Malaysia)

(English)
We are a collective group of concerned Malaysian citizens calling for public justice and the safety of our schooling environment. Following the High Court's decision on 14 September 2026 to acquit and discharge the 15-year-old teenager accused of the tragic murder of female student, the late Yap Shing Xuen, at SMK Bandar Utama under Section 348 of the Criminal Procedure Code (mental insanity) and ordered the accused to be confined in a psychiatric hospital.

While we respect the legal process, this verdict has caused immense distress, anxiety, and concern among parents, students, and the general public regarding the safety of our children within school grounds, as well as the pursuit of justice for the victim's family.

Therefore, we urgently implore the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) of Malaysia to exercise its prosecutorial powers and formally file an appeal to the Court of Appeal within the statutory 14-day limit. Justice must be served for the late Yap Shing Xuen, and a clear message must be sent to protect the safety of all students in Malaysia.
