A one-year-old baby girl, a Russian citizen, has been unlawfully abducted and taken into an active war zone in Yemen. This is the desperate cry for help from her mother, Yana, a Russian citizen who is fighting a heartbreaking nightmare from across the world.

While staying in the Sultanate of Oman, a Yemeni citizen named Al-Ghaili Nour ed-Din Abdullah Yahya fraudulently abducted Yana's 1-year-old baby and illegally took her to Yemen. We must emphasize a critical legal fact: this man is NOT the officially registered father of the child. The baby was born in Russia without his presence, her official birth certificate leaves the "father" column blank, and she holds Yana’s surname. The child is exclusively a Russian citizen, holds no Yemeni nationality, and there is no legal document linking this man to her.

Yana has been completely cut off from her daughter. The baby was abruptly and forcefully torn away from breastfeeding, violating her basic developmental and health needs. To make matters worse, she is being constantly moved around between different houses of the abductor's relatives within Yemen.

Yemen is currently devastated by an ongoing armed conflict and a severe humanitarian crisis. A vulnerable 1-year-old infant is in extreme physical and psychological danger every single day she remains in a war zone under the control of an individual who has no legal rights over her.

This is a clear case of international child abduction of a Russian minor by a foreign national. We urgently demand:

The Russian Authorities and Ministry of Foreign Affairs: To deploy immediate diplomatic and legal pressure to locate, protect, and safely repatriate this minor Russian citizen.

International Humanitarian Agencies (ICRC) and UNICEF: To coordinate efforts on the ground in Yemen to ensure the baby's safety, locate her among these relatives, and assist in returning her to Yana, her biological and sole legal mother.
