My name is Webster Wilson, and I am currently serving a life sentence based on a conviction that rests on critical procedural errors and factual impossibilities. I am calling on the Chatham County Conviction Integrity Unit to review my case and the Governor of Georgia to ensure transparency in this process.

The Facts the State Ignored

My conviction is built on evidence that fundamentally contradicts the reality of the crime:

 Initial Witness Reports: Initial police reports from the night of the crime, December 24, 2005, documented victims describing their assailants as white males. I am a Black male. This discrepancy was never adequately resolved.  

 Absence of Forensic Evidence: Despite the severity of the charges—Murder, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Assault—no murder weapon was ever recovered, and there is zero DNA or fingerprint evidence linking me to the scene.

 Coerced Testimony: My conviction rested entirely on the testimony of co-defendant Sean Thorpe, who received a plea deal and immunity in exchange for his cooperation.

 Procedural Denial of Due Process: I was arrested via a "Special Presentment" and denied a preliminary hearing. Unlike my co-defendants, I was never given the opportunity to confront my accusers before the trial. Furthermore, I was held for 90 days before an indictment was formally returned.

Our Demand

We demand that the Chatham County CIU:

1. Reconcile the Racial Discrepancy: Compare the original, unedited police reports from December 24, 2005, with the trial testimony to address the fact that victims initially identified white assailants.

2. Investigate Withheld Exculpatory Evidence: Determine if initial witness statements that contradicted trial testimony were suppressed (Brady violation).

3. Review the Witness Deal: Disclose the full terms of the immunity/deal provided to co-defendant Sean Thorpe to ensure the jury was not misled.

Justice must be based on facts, not procedural shortcuts. The Chatham County CIU was established to rectify cases exactly like this one. We ask the Governor to support a full and transparent investigation into the handling of this case.
