Justice For Vienna: OPP to re-open the Investigation

Justice For Vienna: OPP to re-open the Investigation
The Issue
Subject: Urgent Appeal for Justice in the Case of Vienna Rose Irwin
Ministry of the Attorney General,
I am writing to express my profound concern and deep disappointment regarding the conclusion of the investigation into the tragic death of two-year-old Vienna Rose Irwin at the Watch Me Grow Day Care in Baltimore, Ontario, on May 25, 2023. The decision not to lay charges in this case is both perplexing and deeply troubling.
The circumstances surrounding Vienna’s death raise several critical questions:
• How did a child end up in a closed septic tank? It is inconceivable that a two-year-old could access such a hazardous area without significant lapses in supervision.
• Who shut the lid? If the tank was closed when she was found, it suggests that someone must have closed it after her fall, which implies potential foul play or gross negligence.
• Why was it open in the first place? An open septic tank on a daycare property represents a blatant disregard for safety protocols.
At the very least, the daycare providers should be held accountable for negligence. The lack of charges implies a tolerance for substandard safety measures in environments entrusted with the care of our children. This sets a dangerous precedent and undermines public trust in both childcare services and the justice system.
I urge the Ontario Provincial Police to reconsider this decision and to pursue accountability for those responsible. The community deserves transparency, and Vienna’s family deserves justice.
Sincerely,
Vienna's Community
