Justice for Tucker
Justice for Tucker
UPDATE: Austin Animal Center killed Tucker. Despite the facts that (1) Final Frontier Rescue Project, an official rescue partner of AAC, has sent numerous requests to pull him, take full responsibility for him, provide him with the training and rehabilitation he needs, provide him with a skilled and dedicated foster who has fostered SEVERAL dogs with reported behavior issues that have since been rehabilitated and been adopted; (2) his original owner, upon learning his plight, requested to reclaim him and get him the training he needs; (3) we have sent AAC newly learned information about the reasons for his decline in behavior (multiple unstable homes, possible abuse, long periods of crate confinement); (4) AAC knowingly violated the Texas Public Information Act by not releasing pertinent behavior information in response to a PIR (Public Information Request) submitted by a citizen asking for all relevant records concerning Tucker (5) we started a petition that now has almost 900 signatures in less than 24 hours (6) we hired a lawyer who reached out to AAC management to request a stay of execution (7) we reached out to every major media outlet in the Austin area...AAC management still chooses to kill Tucker. No, not "humanely euthanize" - the definition of euthanasia is " is the practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve pain and suffering". This is not No Kill my friends. Tucker, humans failed you and I'm sorry we couldn't do more. We will continue the fight for shelter reform in your honor.

Austin Animal Center plans to kill Tucker tomorrow. AAC knew Tucker had issues with guarding, and yet they held Tucker for months without providing behavior help. No one on staff handled Tucker. A few volunteers did, but AAC didn't listen to them. A volunteer had scheduled an evaluation for him, and rather than wait for that evaluation, AAC sent Tucker to a foster home 2-3 days before that evaluation, knowing his history of minor bites, without providing any behavior help or management plan. Now, having set him up to fail, they plan to kill him for failing. Our rescue, Final Frontier Rescue Project, now has a skilled, experienced foster available and has asked to rescue Tucker, but AAC is refusing to release him and still plans to kill him. Please sign this petition if you believe that Tucker deserves the due process the supposed "Nation's Leading No-Kill Shelter" refuses to give him.
