This decision greatly impacts the Year 12s, as this is a rite of passage we’ve been looking forward to since primary school. We were looking forward to having our own space, which included a private hangout area, a place to sit in the sunshine, the ability to heat our own meals in privacy, a ping pong table and the opportunity to enjoy our own space away from other cohorts.

Now, we’ve been placed in an undercover thoroughfare where we are surrounded by constant noise, students moving in and out, and zero privacy. 

We also haven’t been given the opportunity to prove ourselves and demonstrate that we deserve this area. It feels unfair that this decision has been made without giving us a chance to show that we can be responsible and respectful of the space.

This spot was perfect for Year 7s because it was a safe, supervised space with easy access to the office and reading room. The entire cohort is extremely disappointed, and not one person supports this decision.
