The Issue

A teenage competitor was removed from a Las Vegas barrel racing event for horse mistreatment. Hours later, three horses were found stabbed in the barn.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, police responded to reports of an injured horse at the South Point Hotel's equestrian center during the 2026 NBHA Professional's Choice Vegas Super Show. They found three competition horses that had been intentionally stabbed with a sharp object. A teenage girl with access to the barn was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. She now faces 12 counts of willful animal maiming and three counts of felony malicious destruction of property.

The horses survived. But their injuries were severe enough that they are not expected to compete again.
These were not just animals. They were athletes. They were someone's partners, their livelihoods, their companions. The equestrian community has been devastated. A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover the horses' treatment.

The Clark County District Attorney's Office is now seeking to try the teen as an adult. That is the right call. Stabbing three horses in the middle of the night as an act of retaliation is not a juvenile mistake. It is deliberate, calculated cruelty.

Sign this petition to support the Clark County District Attorney's decision to try this case in adult court and demand full accountability for the horses that were injured at the Vegas Super Show.
