Justice for the River North Mass Shooting Victims: Demand Arrests and Accountability Now

The Issue

On July 2, a drive-by shooter opened fire on a crowd outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge in River North, Chicago—killing four young people and injuring 14 more. Most of the victims were Black, leaving a nightclub event when the violence erupted. One of them was Taylor Walker, a 26-year-old woman whose family is now grieving an unimaginable loss.

We are devastated—and we are demanding justice. Chicago Police have confirmed that no one is in custody, and a dark-colored vehicle fled the scene. But where is the urgency? Where is the accountability?

We are calling on Mayor Brandon Johnson, CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling, and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx to treat this case with the seriousness it demands. That means full transparency with the public, dedicated investigative resources, and clear support for victims’ families. This shooting happened in the heart of downtown, in a heavily surveilled area, with dozens of witnesses. If arrests aren’t made here, what hope is there for families in neighborhoods without cameras or headlines?

Justice cannot be delayed. Sign this petition if you agree the City of Chicago must do everything in its power to find and prosecute those responsible—and show families like Taylor’s that their lives matter.
