Actualización de la peticiónJustice for the Liberty Village Coyotes Shot and Murdered in Toronto!Toronto’s Ombudsman ignores my complaint

I got a very upsetting phone call from her that day.  She said the coyotes were “humanely euthanized by firearm”.  She was so nonchalant when she said this, which is chilling coming from the head of Animal Services.  The fact that “humanely euthanized by firearm” were the words she used is offensive to anyone whose beloved cat or dog has died.  No one humane thinks hiring a hunter to shoot healthy animals is a good death.  I am shocked you also think that being shot to death after watching your mate be shot is a good death.

That makes me wonder how Johnny the Critter Gitter could have discreetly shot two animals.  According to Elizabeth Glibbery, the police were there to ensure no humans or dogs were shot.  I called the police non emergency line three separate times and each time they confirmed they did not know anything about the shooting until after the fact.

I also called 311 several different times and they did not know the coyotes were shot by a hunter.  They thought they had been euthanized using intramuscular euthanol injection under anaesthetic, since the term humanely euthanized was used.  Please bear in mind the term humanely euthanized is legally meaningless.

I also called Toronto Wildlife Centre.  They only found out about the shooting from the city website.  They were devastated, especially since they were attempting to rescue the coyotes and treat them for mange.

I also talked to residents of Liberty Village.  They didn’t hear gunshots.  That suggests that either Critter Gitter shot animals in the dark (which an article from 2010 says he does exactly that), which leaves a wide margin of error, or he used a silencer, which requires a federal permit that is rarely if ever granted.  https://www.change.org/p/justice-for-the-liberty-village-coyotes-shot-and-murdered-in-toronto

The thing is, Toronto broke its own policy regarding coyotes when it hired Johnny the Critter Gitter to shoot two coyotes after pet incidents but no “bona fide threat” to humans.  No human bites were confirmed, according to the city’s own public reports.  Elizabeth Glibbery said they were shot after several human bites.  Someone is lying.

What is obvious is that someone is lying and covering stuff up.  I would like this information investigated by the Ombudsman.  I would like to make a formal complaint against this horrifically cruel city that organized a dog shoot with no warning.  The city chose to listen to a few people who hated coyotes, yet ignored Coyote Watch Canada, Toronto Wildlife Centre, and other animal rights organizations and real coyote experts.

I am very concerned that the police apparently knew nothing, and the critter gitter shot coyotes in the middle of the night, without warning the public, and probably with a silencer, which is illegal without a federal permit.  And Toronto Wildlife Centre wanted to treat them for mange, but only found out about the shooting on the news.
