The Issue

A 55-pound dog was found buried alive in the bottom of a trash compactor in Daytona Beach, Florida.

He had been thrown in—there’s no way he could have gotten there on his own.

He spent more than 12 terrifying hours trapped in garbage, shaking and crying, before two local heroes found and saved him.

They named him Daytona.

Though he survived without major injuries, Daytona is deeply traumatized. Just hearing the sound of the compactor again sends him into a panic. This was not an accident—someone did this to him on purpose. And they haven’t been caught.

Right now, there are no leads and no surveillance footage. But animal cruelty at this level is a crime, and someone knows who did it.

We’re calling on the Daytona Beach Police Department to do everything in their power to bring this abuser to justice, including canvassing the apartment complex, requesting personal camera footage from nearby residents, and treating this case with the urgency it deserves.

No animal should suffer like this. And no one who dumps a living creature like garbage should walk away with no consequences.

Stand with us and demand justice for Daytona.
