Justice for the Animals Rescued in Lincoln Hoarding Cases

Justice for the Animals Rescued in Lincoln Hoarding Cases
The Issue
In the span of just a few weeks, Animal Control in Lincoln, Nebraska, rescued more than 30 dogs from two horrifying hoarding situations — and now the community is demanding justice.
In one case, officers found an apartment floor soaked with animal waste and several pets left trapped inside a camper with no water, baking in over 100-degree heat.
In another case, dogs, puppies, and a rat were found living in a hotel room saturated with ammonia and filth. Some of the rescued animals were just days old.
These conditions weren’t just dangerous — they were deadly.
Animal hoarding is a serious form of neglect that causes immense suffering for animals and often signals deeper mental health issues that must be addressed. Yet far too often, these cases end without meaningful accountability — or protections to prevent it from happening again.
We are calling on the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office to pursue appropriate criminal charges for animal cruelty
Lincoln Animal Control to be given full support in its investigation and future enforcement.
Local judges to ensure that any individuals responsible are prohibited from owning or harboring animals in the future!
No animal should be left to suffer in silence. No pet should be locked in a camper without water. And no one responsible for this level of cruelty should be allowed to do it again.
