Justice for the 46+
The Issue
Cassidy Berkheimer (Docket Number: MJ-24103-CR-0000485-2024) Rachael Feaster (Docket Number: MJ-24103-CR-0000486-2024)been charged with 33 felony(F3) 32 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals - Causing SBI or Death, 32 counts of Cruelty to Animals and 32 counts of (M3) Neglect of Animals - Tethering each. Charges were brought due to the discovery of over 100 carcasses in various stages of decomposition. Dogs Cats, Birds and small animals. It was a horrific scene of unimaginable torture and murder of defenseless animals who were looking to them for care. There were carcasses everywhere. They had been collecting animals to watch them suffer and starve to death in cages for years.
Our Facebook Group is called Justice for the 46+ (facebook.com/groups/796067038970109) because that is the number of confirmed corpses that were taken from their home last June. Please visit the group to get the full story. Video and synopsis of the heart breaking story are in the featured section at the top of the group.
The fear amongst those of us that have been watching the case from the beginning is that they are going to be allowed to plea out of the felonies and end up with fines and probation. These monsters have had animals removed from their homes in the past. Petco had their names and photos on a list not to sell them any any living thing. All of this and no charges we ever brought against them. It took 2 months for the DA to charge them for this offense. Rachael's family has been very involved with Humane Society in Bedford. We feel as if they were trying to brush this under the rug. We had to push the issue with a call campaign to anyone who would answer the phone. We plan to resume the calls to the DA's office explaining our position and why we believe that fines and probation are not an acceptable punishment for the atrocities these two inflicted on the animals in their care. Feel free to join us DA PWeeks 814-693-3010 email pweeks@blairco.org (copy his first assistant) nsmith@blairco.org. Mailing address 423 Allegheny st Suite 421 Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. But for now we need signatures.
We don't have much time. The arraignment hearing is Dec 20th. Most involved think that is when the plea bargain deal is going to announced. We need to let the DA know that there are no mitigating circumstances to allow them to walk away without seeing jail time. The home was FULL OF DEAD ANIMALS. DEAD ANIMALS that were 100% healthy when they entered this home. They were still trying to adopt a dog on the day this all came out. The Humane Society Assistant Manager was quoted as saying he had never smelled or seen anything so horrendous in his life. They had to scrape animals off the floors. There was a dogs dead body found crushed and folded in a dog crate that had literally been folded, so one can only guess the horrific death that this dog had at the hands of these monsters. These monsters did not commit these horrific acts because they lacked money. Both had jobs and both continued to actively seek out dogs, cats, and other animals. Please sign our petition to make sure the powers that be understand we are not going to go away. We are here to speak for the ones that can't speak for themselves. We want to insure that DA weeks considers the magnitude of torture those innocent souls suffered. Even if they can only use the 46 confirmed bodies. Isn't that enough? They were locked in cages, starved to death and only God knows what else they were put through at the hands of Cassidy and Rachael. Probation is NOT enough, Fines are NOT enough The animals deserve justice. Theses monsters need to spend time in prison. It's an awful thing to have to picture but we are asking DA Weeks to go back over the notes from the humane society, the stories from the people they fooled into thinking they were good people. If they are allowed to commit these type of atrocities to 100+ animals, what horrible acts will they commit in the future? If these atrocities go unpunished and there is no accountability held to these monsters, they will not learn their lesson and will only do this or worse crimes in the future.
Please sign this petition to ask DA Weeks to go back and review the horrors that went on in that home. The torture those innocent souls endured, their tortuous cries for food, attention, love or just humane care. These monsters watch these innocent animals starve to death and suffer, so unnecessarily. Rachel and Cassie need to have accountability and serve time in jail.
