The Coroner's Court, the Victorian Minister for Domestic and Family Violence and the Attorney-General have refused Kayla Hehir's request for a public inquest into the death of her eight-month-old daughter Talon.

Kayla will now write a personal letter to the ministers in the hope they will sit down with her and listen to her story.

Meanwhile, Victoria Police Homicide detectives have spent six years investigating her murder, with no closure and no charges.

Six years! At what point does the government and police decide her death needs a coronial lens? I cannot imagine any politician allowing the investigation into the murder of their child just sit in someone's office draw for SIX YEARS!

"No words can convey the emptiness, the terror, and the heartbreak of losing a child," Kayla says.

"Yet what makes it even more unbearable is that those whose duty it is to protect, investigate, and deliver justice have allowed silence, delay, and inaction to dominate where there should have been accountability.

"Every day I live with the weight of unanswered questions, unanswered cries for help, and unanswered pleas for justice."
