The issue

Her name is Talon Jai-Grace Hehir.

Her mum Kayla Hehir is seeking justice after she died following an incident at her home on June 20, 2019.

The Victorian Homicide Squad has been investigating Talon’s death for six years.

Kayla has no death certificate, no answers from police and there’s been no coronial inquest.

Now, she's calling on Australians to help get justice for Talon.

Talon was only 8.5 months old. She was defenceless, tiny and vulnerable.

Kayla woke to find the little girl unconscious.

A man was at the home at the time of Talon's injuries.

Medics did everything they could to save Talon but she passed away that evening at Monash Children’s Hospital.

Kayla holds Talon one last time.

Kayla – and the rest of Talon’s family – deserve answers from police and the Victorian Coroner’s Office.

Today, The RED HEART Campaign and Australian Femicide Watch are launching the Justice for Talon Campaign on behalf of Kayla and her family.

We are calling on the Victorian Attorney-General Sonya Kilkenny, the Victorian Minister for Prevention of Family Violence Natalie Hutchins , the Victorian Police and Victims Minister Anthony Carbines and the Victorian Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush to:

  • Appoint a coronial inquest;
  • Roll out a significant reward for information about Talon’s death; and
  • Ensure the homicide investigation into Talon’s death becomes a key priority.

“We deserve transparency, a proper investigation, and closure,” Kayla says.

“At the very least, we deserve the truth.

“ I want to know that her life mattered — that her death wasn’t dismissed or forgotten.

“Despite the gravity of this case, I feel that key issues remain unresolved, and communication from the relevant authorities has been limited.

“As her mother, I am left not only grieving but also fighting for accountability and justice for my daughter.”

PLEASE SIGN & SHARE THE PETITION SO WE CAN GET JUSTICE FOR TALON!
