Justice for Stray Dogs - Reverse False Information Based Judgment.

Justice for Stray Dogs - Reverse False Information Based Judgment.
The Issue
Protect India’s animals and restore faith in fair judicial process.
In July 2025, a Supreme Court bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan passed an order directing the Delhi Government to remove all stray dogs from Delhi NCR within six weeks. This order was taken suo moto based solely on a news article, without a thorough fact-check or proper hearing from all stakeholders.
The news article itself contained incorrect information. The tragic death of a young girl was wrongly attributed to a dog bite, while her own parents confirmed the cause was meningitis. Despite this, the Court’s order disregarded existing animal protection laws, the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which are designed to ensure humane treatment and population control of stray animals.
This decision has severe and irreversible consequences:
* It endangers the lives of over 3 lakh innocent street dogs.
* It undermines decades of work in animal birth control, vaccination, and community awareness.
* It creates an impractical and costly burden on civic bodies, running into thousands of crores, far beyond what has ever been allocated for animal welfare.
Judges hold one of the highest responsibilities in safeguarding justice. When decisions are taken without full facts, due process, or scientific consideration, they risk causing widespread harm to both people and animals. In this case, the order not only threatens innocent lives but also erodes public trust in the judiciary.
We call upon the Members of Parliament to urgently move for the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the matter. If the investigation confirms that the judgment was passed without due diligence, we request that the necessary steps be taken, as per constitutional provisions, to recommend the removal of these judges from their current posts.
We urge every citizen, animal welfare group, and responsible lawmaker to stand for truth, compassion, and the rule of law. This is not just about animals — it is about ensuring that justice is based on facts, not misinformation.
*Sign this petition to demand accountability and protect the rights of India’s voiceless beings.*
