PETITION TO OHIO GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE AND THE OHIO PAROLE BOARD

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Parole Board to carefully review the case of Stanley Jalowiec and grant executive clemency.

For more than thirty years, Stanley Jalowiec has lived under a sentence of death while consistently maintaining his innocence. During those three decades, substantial concerns have emerged regarding the reliability of the conviction, including witness recantations, allegations of misconduct, questions surrounding evidence, and newly developed information that warrants careful consideration.

Regardless of where one stands on the death penalty, every person should agree that when a human life is at stake, the justice system must strive for the highest possible level of reliability, fairness, and transparency.

Stanley Jalowiec’s case continues to raise serious questions that deserve thoughtful review before any irreversible punishment is carried out.

In addition to maintaining his innocence, Stanley has spent more than three decades pursuing education, mentoring others, promoting personal growth, and encouraging positive change within the prison environment.

This petition is not intended to diminish the suffering experienced by victims, their families, or the community. Rather, it is a call for justice guided by fairness, humility, and the recognition that mistakes can occur.

Therefore, we respectfully ask Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Parole Board to:

• Conduct a full and thorough review of Stanley Jalowiec’s case.

• Carefully consider witness recantations, newly developed evidence, and information that calls the reliability of the conviction into question.

• Consider Stanley Jalowiec’s longstanding claim of innocence.

• Consider his record of personal growth, education, mentorship, and positive contributions during more than three decades of incarceration.

• Grant executive clemency and prevent the execution of a man whose conviction remains the subject of substantial and unresolved concerns.

Justice requires courage.

Mercy requires wisdom.

Truth requires an open mind.
