Justice for Sheila Abdus-Salaam

Justice for Sheila Abdus-Salaam
The Issue
PETITION FROM THE FAMILY OF SHEILA ABDUS-SALAAM
On April 12th 2017, our beloved Sheila’s body was found in the Hudson River. After many meetings with the New York Police Department, the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office her death has continued to be ruled a suicide. The information and files that we have received from them have been inconclusive and do not support suicide as a cause of death. Our family never believed she would take her own life when she was at the peak of her legal career and we feel that foul play was involved in her death. It has been three years and we have yet to receive any authentic answers, which is especially concerning based on her being the first African American woman to serve on New York’s highest Court of Appeals. This is why we have decided to go public at this time and demand justice for Sheila Abdus-Salaam. Losing her tragically in this way has caused a lot of pain to us, and not receiving the reasonable information from any thorough investigative work has been very frustrating. Sheila should still be here fighting for justice for the citizens of New York and now she deserves justice. Her life mattered so much to not only her family, friends and colleagues but also to the world! We would really appreciate any information from the public that will assist in the re-opening and further investigation into her case. We would like to get the attention of Governor Cuomo, the New York Police Department, the Chief Medical Examiner and the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Please sign this petition to re-open her case and feel free to share it to as many people as possible. WE DEMAND ANSWERS & JUSTICE!
