Recently, someone on a public forum suggested that my son, Shawn Lee Fortune, may have simply fallen face-first after a medical episode, causing his fractured nose and facial injuries. They claimed lividity (blood pooling after death) explained the rest.
I need to make it crystal clear why this theory does not match the facts — and why we must demand a real investigation:
Two Different Official Explanations:
The detective told me my son’s injuries happened during the medical examination.
The medical examiner’s office claimed they were from lividity.
These cannot both be true.
Injury Pattern Doesn’t Fit a Simple Fall:
A single fall would cause one main impact area, but Shawn had a fractured nose AND a knot on his forehead, suggesting multiple impacts — not one.
Swelling and a raised knot are caused by blunt force trauma, not by blood pooling.
Lividity is Not the Same as Injury:
Lividity causes discoloration, not bone fractures or localized swelling. It can’t explain a broken nose or the distinct forehead swelling.
Why This Matters:
A “fall + lividity” explanation could easily be used to downplay or dismiss evidence of foul play. We cannot allow theories to replace evidence, especially when official statements already contradict each other.
Every share, every signature, every voice matters. If this happened to my son, it can happen to someone else’s loved one.
