We demand full prosecution of Jacob Paul Nichols under the harshest penalties allowed by Texas law. We also urge Hunt County and the SPCA of Texas to ensure this case is seen through to the very end—no plea deals, no excuses.

But there’s another failure here. Sandy had a microchip. A previous adopter. A contract. Someone gave her away and trusted that would be enough. It wasn’t. There should have been follow-ups. There should have been checks. The system that rehomed her didn’t protect her.

Sandy mattered. Her suffering must lead to justice—and to changes that ensure every rehomed animal is truly safe, not just passed along and forgotten.
