Justice for Ruben

Justice for Ruben
The Issue
Subject: Urgent Appeal for Justice for Ruben
I am reaching out for a plea for justice. My baby brother, Joseph Ruben Pacheco, was taken from us in a cruel and senseless act of violence on December 28, 1997, in Las Vegas, NM. It has been 26 agonizing years since his life was brutally cut short, and yet, we are still left without answers, without closure, and without justice.
Ruben was not just a statistic. He was not just a headline. He was my brother—the baby of the family, a good friend, and a kind person taken from us far too soon. His memory haunts me every day, and the pain of not knowing who robbed him of his future is unbearable.
The details surrounding Ruben's death are harrowing and deeply disturbing. He was subjected to a vicious beating and left naked and discarded in a stairwell behind a bar.
Despite our efforts to seek justice, the authorities have failed us at every turn. We've pleaded with the Las Vegas NM Police Department, and reached out to District Attorney Thomas Clayton—all to no avail. It is beyond comprehension that Ruben's case file has been left untouched on the DA's desk for over a year.
But we refuse to let Ruben's memory fade. We refuse to let his killers roam free while our family continues to suffer. That is why we are mobilizing our community to ask the DA, Thomas Clayton, to take another look at Ruben's case. We are also rasing funds for a reward that may bring forth the crucial information needed to solve Ruben's murder.
My brother deserves justice. He deserves to be more than just another unsolved case. He deserves to rest in peace knowing that those responsible for his death have been brought to account for their heinous actions.
If you have any information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, I implore you to come forward. You can reach out to the Las Vegas, NM police department and reference case number 1997004931. Your bravery in speaking up could be the key to unlocking the truth and securing the justice that Ruben deserves.
Furthermore, I urge you to stand with us in demanding action from the Las Vegas, NM police department and the current DA, Thomas Clayton. Let your voices be heard, and let them know that Ruben's life mattered, and that his death will not be forgotten or ignored.
