On March 12th, 2022 Regina (Gina) Bright was enjoying celebrating her birthday week in Omaha, Nebraska with some of her closest friends. Her birthday was on Tuesday the 8th and she had turned 35.

Her wonderful birthday week ended suddenly and horrifically when she was T-boned on her passenger side while making a left-hand turn and was killed.

Jonathan McDougald, the driver of the car that killed her, ADMITTED to going at least 60-100mph in a 35mph zone.

Witnesses estimated that he was going AT LEAST 90mph when he collided with her causing her death.

When considering the EXCESSIVE rate of speed at which Jonathan McDougald was traveling it is hard to believe that she would have been able to see him coming as she attempted to take her turn.

He made NO apparent attempt to stop, there are NO skid marks on the scene.

Witnesses also noted that when he hit her car, the impact was so hard that his car became airborne.

Firefighters witnessed the accident and immediately ran to help her, but the impact was so severe they could do nothing.

Jonathan McDougald was reportedly non cooperative with the police and sustained a minor knee injury.

Jonathan McDougald has yet to be charged for her death, he’s never been arrested for his extraordinary negligence that resulted in vehicular manslaughter.

Gina was a proud, supportive, and dedicated mother who was raising her 15-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son to shine in themselves and nurture their talents. Her children are absolutely heart broken and devastated without her.

Gina was a caretaker, rock to all her friends and family. She was kind and accepting of everyone she met.

Family and friends are devastated and remain in disbelief of this unnecessary loss of life.

Jonathan McDougald has made no attempt to reach out to her family to offer his condolences for killing their beloved family member by his reckless behavior.

As of May 22nd, 2022, it has been two months since Regina Bright’s funeral.

Two months and no charges against Jonathan McDougald.

We, the family and friends of Regina Bright are becoming increasingly more concerned that her case is slipping through the cracks.

While we appreciate what is being done by the Omaha Police Department and the Douglas County Attorney’s office, we feel that charges against Jonathan McDougald for the death of Regina Bright MUST HAPPEN SOON!

This petition is to encourage Don Kline and his office to take action and charge Jonathan McDougald for the killing of Regina Bright on the night of March 12th, 2022!!
