On August 30, 2025, my 2yr old grandson, Rain, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

333 days later, our family is still waiting for answers.

The information we have obtained raises serious questions.

Medical Examiner findings
• Gunshot wound above the left eyebrow
• Estimated muzzle distance of approx  2 feet
• Slight upward trajectory

Puyallup Tribal Police radio transcripts
• Three adult men were initially detained and later released.
• Officers reviewing security camera footage.
• The FBI arrived 90 minutes after shooting.

No 911 call was made.

Tribal Police arrived within minutes after ShotSpotter activated. 

Despite this, our family has gone nearly a year without a meaningful update from the agency leading the federal investigation. FBI

No explanation of where the investigation stands.

No timeline.

No substantive communication.

For months, we reached out to tribal leadership, tribal agencies, child protection officials, and federal authorities seeking answers.

Only after newly elected leadership of the Puyallup Tribal Council were tribal officials directed to finally meet with me.

That leaves important questions.

• Why did our family go so long without communication?
• What changed?
• Why did it take new leadership before our concerns were acknowledged?

These are questions ANY family should be able to ask after the violent homicide of a 2 year old child.

I am calling on the local FBI to provide our family and the public with an update on Rain’s homicide investigation.

Our family deserves communication.

Our community deserves transparency.

And Rain deserves to be remembered.
