STEVEN ERRANTE IS CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY AFTER ALLEGEDLY STEALING A DOG, RAPING HER, AND THEN SEVERELY BEATING HER WITH A BASEBALL BAT

“This is the worst case of animal abuse that I’ve seen in my 20-year career,” Det. Sgt. John O’Sullivan told reporters Saturday.

Police officers found what they believed was Errante’s Labrador mix (who was later found to be stolen) suffering from serious injuries, including fractures to her skull, face and forearm, as well as blunt-force trauma injuries to the body, authorities said. Officers had been called to the home on Deer Park Avenue after receiving a call for a possibly injured animal inside the house.

“I basically beat the dog with a bat,” Errante is quoted as saying in court documents.

The dog, named Pearl (and "Chantel Girl" or "Beauty" according to different news articles), had to be euthanized as a result of her injuries. Errante was also subsequently charged with allegedly having sex with Pearl. In addition, Errante also allegedly assaulted his father with a baton, lending credence to the notion that animal abusers are often participating in other criminality, including violence toward humans, and are a danger to society. Please sign the petition to ensure the courts are aware that we wish to see Pearl receive the justice she deserves.
