Justice for Paris and Victims of the Felony Murder Rule

Justice for Paris and Victims of the Felony Murder Rule
The Issue
Eric Paris Whitfield is a Black genderqueer student and activist who remains incarcerated in Eastern New York Correctional Facility after 20 years because of an unjust law known as the felony murder rule. This rule allows a defendant to be charged with first-degree murder for a killing that occurs during a dangerous felony, even if the defendant is not the killer.
Even though Paris is innocent, they were convicted of murder in the 2nd degree and robbery in the 1st degree, with a sentence of 25 years to life. They have served 20 years, meanwhile the actual killers and their codefendants are free in society.
