On March 21, Dan and Julie Dill took a walk they had taken dozens of times at Ketring Park in Littleton, Colorado. Their 10-year-old dog Ollie was with them. An off-leash Staffordshire Terrier came up from behind, got under Dan's legs, and grabbed Ollie. The attacking dog's owners stood and watched without intervening. Julie hit the dog with a water bag to try to free him. Ollie broke free and ran toward the lake in fear. He died from his injuries at the vet.

The owner of the attacking dog is now facing four criminal charges including owning a dangerous animal that killed another animal, owning a dangerous animal that caused bodily injury to a person, owning an unvaccinated dog, and allowing a dog to run at large. Despite all of that, the owner has chosen to take the case to trial.

The Dill family has shown up to court twice. They will keep showing up. They just want the owner to take responsibility for what happened to Ollie.

Dan carved Ollie's name into his walking stick so he will always have him by his side on their walks. That is the kind of love Ollie deserved. That love deserves justice.
