Nepal has suffered devastating floods and landslides that have displaced families, destroyed homes, damaged roads, and disrupted livelihoods. These disasters are becoming more severe as climate change intensifies extreme rainfall, flooding, and landslide risks in vulnerable mountain regions. Nepal has contributed very little to global greenhouse-gas emissions, yet it faces disproportionate climate harm. Developed countries, which have benefited most from fossil-fuel-driven growth and produced much of the world’s historical emissions, must take greater responsibility. This is not charity it is climate accountability.

We call on developed countries and international institutions to:

Provide fast, grant-based funding for Nepal’s disaster recovery and rebuilding.
Support climate-resilient homes, roads, schools, health services, early-warning systems, flood protection, and landslide prevention.
Deliver reliable funding for adaptation and climate-related loss and damage, including through the international Loss and Damage Fund. UNFCCC: Loss and Damage Fund
Rapidly reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and move away from fossil fuels.
Create stronger international systems that hold major emitters accountable and ensure climate funding reaches affected communities.
