🧧 A Child’s Love in Every Language —

Neil’s cards for his sister Lulu: Love, culture, and everything they’re trying to erase

Neil was only 5 or 6 years old when he made these.

He drew smiley faces, hearts, and wrote his Chinese name:
He wrote “I love you” in both English and Mandarin.
He even used 注音符號 — the phonetic writing system taught only in Taiwan.

He didn’t do this because anyone told him to.
He did it because he loved his sister, his mother, his family — and because he loved his culture.

These drawings are filled with joy, tenderness, and innocence.
And yet, everything they represent is now being taken away.

Neil is no longer allowed to speak Mandarin.
He cannot write to Lulu.
He cannot see her, speak to her, or even say “I love you.”

This is not protection.
This is emotional apartheid and cultural erasure — enforced by a system that punishes a child simply for being himself.

Please share this petition and help us make sure Neil’s voice, identity, and love for his family are never silenced.

他寫下了 “I love you” 和「我愛你」。

Lulu,
