We are writing on behalf of thousands of NEET aspirants, their families, and citizens who believe that dissent should never be met with violence.

Over the past weeks, students across the country have gathered peacefully at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to demand accountability over the NEET-UG paper leak and irregularities in exam evaluation that have thrown their futures into uncertainty. These are young people who spent years preparing for one of the toughest exams in the country, only to watch that effort undermined by systemic failures no fault of their own.

The human cost of this crisis is not abstract. In recent months, we have seen heartbreaking reports of NEET aspirants taking their own lives after failed attempts or after being let down by a broken system. Every one of those deaths represents a young person who deserved support, transparency, and a fair process, not silence and neglect. The protests in Delhi are, at their core, a demand that no more families have to bury a child because of a system that failed them.

Instead of being met with dialogue, many of these students have faced lathi charges, tear gas, and detentions. Videos circulating widely show visibly distressed students being forcibly removed from protest sites. Whatever one's politics, the sight of unarmed students being beaten for asking questions about their own exam results should trouble every citizen.

We are not asking for chaos. We are asking for what any democracy owes its young people: the right to protest peacefully without fear of injury or arrest, a transparent and time-bound investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak and CBSE evaluation irregularities, and a public commitment from the government to engage in dialogue rather than confrontation.

We also demand that the government take full accountability for what has unfolded during these protests. Those responsible for the use of excessive force against peaceful, unarmed students must be identified and face necessary action. Accountability cannot stop at statements or assurances. It has to mean real consequences for those who chose force over dialogue with the very students they are meant to serve.

This must also extend to the root of the crisis itself. Everyone found responsible for the NEET-UG paper leak, and every instance of corruption within the education system that has put students' futures at risk, must be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. Students should never have to pay the price for failures created by those entrusted to protect the integrity of the system.

These students are not the enemy. They are the future doctors, engineers, and citizens of this country, and they deserve to be heard, not silenced.

We call on the Ministry of Education, the Delhi Police, and the Government of India to acknowledge these concerns, ensure the safety of protesting students, take visible, credible steps toward resolving the NEET crisis, hold accountable everyone involved in this injustice against students, and act decisively against those responsible for the paper leak and corruption in the education system.
