I am writing this petition to demand justice for my service animal and hold the city of Temple accountable for their actions. On March.13,2023, my beloved service animal was tragically shot by a neighbor, causing immense pain and distress to both of us. Instead of receiving support and empathy during this difficult time, I have been subjected to unjust treatment by the city authorities. I lost my home my job my possessions and ended up in the hospital for a suicide attempt. When getting out of the hospital I had no place and no one to go to. For 3 months I had no home no place where I fit in and no place to be safe and the only safety that I had you had taken away from me.

Firstly, I demand that the city of Temple immediately returns my service animal to me. As a loyal companion who has provided invaluable assistance in managing my disability, he is an integral part of my life. The separation caused by his removal has had severe emotional consequences on both myself and my service animal.

Furthermore, I request a formal apology from the city authorities for falsely labeling me as an animal abuser. This baseless accusation has not only tarnished my reputation but also exposed me to unwarranted harassment and death threats from misguided individuals who were misled by these false claims.

In addition to addressing these immediate concerns, it is crucial that we address the systemic issues within Temple's police force and animal control department. It has come to light that many officers lack proper training in handling cases involving animals or providing adequate support during such incidents.

I urge you to implement comprehensive training programs for all police officers in Temple regarding proper handling of animals in crisis situations. By ensuring they are equipped with appropriate knowledge and skills through mandatory training sessions specifically focused on dealing with animals, we can prevent further mishandling or mistreatment cases like mine.
