My beautiful cat Polly was found dead in the middle of the street a few weeks ago. Everyone loved my cat and she was friendly and approached all the neighbours that live on our property/complex (6 townhouses, 5 owners and one tenant). I know my cat was killed / murdered by the tenant who has lived here since June 30 2022. 
apart from this tenant laughing and saying he killed her / gutted her down in our shared garage (which was not recorded unfortunately) there are specific reasons I knew it was the tenant who killed her before he even said anything.

 

on 12 March 2023, the tenant was on my front lawn at 11pm cutting up boxes with a large knife. He left a mess on my front lawn and left the knife in the ground facing up overnight. (My CCTV camera caught him, clearly showing him with the knife and leaving it in the ground). The next morning my mother left for work at 6am and it was still dark outside and nearly fell over and stabbed herself on the knife. It is a large knife and very sharp that was used to cut a heavy duty box. My mum was shaken up and told me about what happened. I then took a photo of the knife and went and knocked loudly on the Tenants door. Upon the tenant opening the door, before I could even speak, he begins yelling and screaming at me and threatening to knock me unconscious and kill me if I ever “bash on his door again”. Didn’t care that he left a knife on my property upright that my mother nearly fell on-top of, just proceeded to blame me and said next time he will kill me and hurt the ones I love or will damage my property. 

Two weeks later, on the Saturday night/Sunday morning, the tenant is blasting music at 3am and no one next to him can sleep because his music is so loud that most owners can hear it. One of the neighbours had enough and went out at 3:12am and knocked loudly (or bashed according to the tenant) on his door. She yelled out to turn the music down or she would call the police.

 Couple of days later on 14/15 March, Tuesday/Wednesday night, I find my cat dead (or mutilated, as I prefer to call it) with half her head missing and her stomach gutted with the guts all over the ground. I was completely devastated. My cat has been with me for 10 years, and she and I were inseparable. I got her as a birthday present as I was going through very serious medical issues which have turned into life long conditions with no cure, and I needed a friend/pet to be with me, and my cat was. I took a photo of the scene once I opened my door as I didn’t know what it was at the very beginning. As I got closer to the street, I then realised what it was. The pictures are horrific and very hard to look at. I had it confirmed in a report that the injuries were either done by an animal or by a human being/it was not possible to obtain the sort of injuries sustained by a car. 

I knew at this moment it was Unit 4 (the Tenant), in retaliation because a neighbour “bashed on the tenants door to get him to turn down his music).

one week later, I saw the tenant in the shared garage when I was getting ready for work. He then laughed and said “that’s what happens when you bash on my door. I warned you and now you are catless”. 

When questioned though, he denies it and says it roadkill, even though those injuries are no way caused by a car!

the above accusations of the threats against my life and the killing of my cat are unfortunately without any evidence, even though both of the events happened. An IVO has been issued against the Tenant to stay away from me and this goes to Court on 13 June 2023. The lease for the tenant is up on 30 June and I want the court to make orders that the lease cannot be renewed. I am hoping to get this petition out there to produce to the court to help my case. Unfortunately there is little justice I can achieve for my murdered cat and for the threats against my life, so the closest I can do is try to get the tenant out of here. I believe if he remains, it is a pure insult to my deceased cat and next time human life may be lost, (Although I value my cats life the same as a humans).

there has been constant issues with this tenant since they took tenancy in July 2022. They are on a 12 month lease, which is set to be up on 30 June 2023. In these past 9 months, there have been complaints regarding this tenant since he moved in from the very first 2 weeks. All 5 of us on the block have complained to the owners corporation and the owner of the tenant’s property over and over. There has been a total of 37 documented complaints/accusations against the tenant. Not only has everyone complained about the noise, attitude, disrespect and safety from our complex, but also surrounding neighbours off the property have complained. Due to the laws in Victoria, evictions of a tenancy ever since changes were put into place to protect tenants, it’s extremely difficult to get tenants evicted, even with documented evidence / photos. 
the tenant has denied every single allegation we have all made against him, when we have all lived in the complex for 6 years and no one has ever had any issues with anyone.

I would appreciate any comments relating to the injuries on my cat. I do have a closer up photo of her, but I can’t bring myself to post that. I am hoping that people can sign this petition in justice of my murdered cat and for the safety of others around the community. I  am extremely devastated and emotional over what has happened to my cat, yet i seem to be powerless to take action even though the tenant admitted to it.
