Justice for Milanie Southwell over reinstatement of my employment
Justice for Milanie Southwell over reinstatement of my employment
The Issue
I have been out of the job due to being sick one week ,despite how much i have changed and taken things out of my my schedule to go to work. If we take action now there could be a change to gain employment again.
I, Milanie Southwell, am writing this petition to seek justice and fairness in the face of an unjust termination from my job. I was recently fired from my position at Wendys in Georgia after being sick for one week. This decision has not only left me devastated but has also raised concerns about the lack of protection for employees facing illness-related challenges.
Personal Story:
Working at Wendys was not just a means of earning a living; it was an integral part of my life. The connections and friendships I formed with my coworkers were invaluable, and the knowledge I gained through this job helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Unfortunately, during a recent week, I fell ill due to circumstances beyond my control. As soon as I realized that my condition would prevent me from fulfilling my duties effectively, I promptly informed both my supervisor department about the situation Despite providing all necessary documentation from medical professionals supporting the legitimacy of my illness, I was shocked to receive a termination notice shortly thereafter.
Relevant Facts:
1. According to Georgia labor laws (Georgia Code Title 34 - Labor and Industrial Relations), employers are required to provide reasonable accommodations for employees facing temporary disabilities or illnesses.
2. The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year for specific medical reasons.
3. Studies have shown that allowing employees time off when they are sick can actually benefit companies by reducing overall absenteeism rates and improving employee morale.
Petition Request:
We call upon Wendys in Georgia to reconsider their decision regarding my termination based on unfair grounds related solely to illness-related absence. We urge them to review their policies concerning employee health issues, ensuring compliance with state labor laws while promoting a supportive work environment.
By signing this petition, we stand together against unjust terminations and advocate for fair treatment of employees facing illness-related challenges. We believe that no employee should be penalized for circumstances beyond their control, especially when they have followed proper procedures by informing their employer promptly.
Together, we can send a strong message to Wendys and other employers in Georgia that the well-being of their employees should be a top priority. Let us strive for justice, fairness, and compassion within our workplaces.
Thank you for your support in rectifying this unjust termination and promoting a more inclusive work environment where employees are treated with dignity and respect.
