Justice For Matthew Felix
Justice For Matthew Felix

END POLICE TERRORISM NOW
#JusticeforMatthew
On February 25th, 2020, 19 year old Matthew Felix was the victim of police terrorism. UNKNOWN members of the Nassau PD pursued Matthew in unmarked vehicles a few blocks away from his home. When he came to a stop, they shot up his vehicle. These officers were outside of their jurisdiction as they murdered Matthew, an unarmed TEEN, in Cambria Heights, Queens.
Communities have already risen up and joined in solidarity to denounce these violent acts, as featured here on August 23rd, 2020. This event was organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation in partnership with a variety of other Long Island & state-wide organizations.
These practices of state sponsored assassinations are rooted in anti-Blackness, systemic racism, & white supremacy. This is unacceptable and we demand #JusticeForMatthew and for Black and Brown people.
This event has been incredibly traumatic for Samantha and Guerlyne Felix, as well as Communities of Color who live in constant fear of law enforcement every day. Matthew’s death is not an exception or an “isolated incident” but a de facto standard for Black and Brown people who encounter law enforcement.
Long Island was one of the first suburban communities in the country and is now one of the most segregated. Systemic racism is rampant. This is evident through repeated instances of hyper-policing, the lack of school funding in minority communities, the racist school lessons/assignments, and also by the continued legacy of redlining.
We have reached a tipping point. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE.
We cannot allow this case to be forgotten. Sign this petition to show that you stand with Matthew Felix’s Family and Black & Brown Communities.
We the Undersigned Demand:
That the names of the officers involved are released
That body camera footage/dashcam footage from the officers are released
That these officers are put on administrative leave WITHOUT pay until the completion of independent investigations
That independent investigations are completed by BOTH the Nassau County
District Attorney Madeline Singas’ Office as well as New York State Attorney General Letitia James’ officer -and that this matter is brought to a Grand Jury to ensure police accountability
That a Civilian Complaint Review Board be created in Nassau County
Special Thank You to: The Felix family
