JUSTICE FOR MANNY: People of the State of Illinois vs. Guillermo Perez Moreno

The Issue

More than a year after losing Manny, we are still fighting for justice.

Since the horrible tragedy, multiple hearings have been held for Manny's case. In case you haven't kept up with them, the most recent update is that a motion was filed for Manny's murderer to stay in the Juvenile Detention Center instead of being transferred to the Cook County Jail where he belongs. This essentially demonstrates favoritism and special treatment for someone who does not deserve it at all. A hearing will be held on January 18th, 2023 that determines the next steps, so we need your help to get as many signatures as possible to make sure this doesn't occur.

Guillermo Perez Moreno, his murderer, was 17 when he took Manny's life but became an adult on February 10, 2022. Currently, he is still being held in Juvie despite being of age to be transferred to the county jail. His attorney's defense is that his good behavior and good grades make him a role model. But how can a murderer be a role model at all?

Not only did he kill someone, but while in jail, has been in two physical fights, meaning that the example of "good behavior" is a false claim that is attempting to distract from the fact that he is a murderer. Regardless, the judge has allowed for him to be in Juvie this long, which shows that this case is not in Manny's favor despite being the victim and that we need to do something about this.

Please take a minute to sign and help us bring Manny the justice he, his family, and his loved ones deserve.
