[Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Menteri Besar Terengganu, Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar (DVS), KEMENTERIAN PERUMAHAN DAN KERAJAAN TEMPATAN ]

We, the undersigned, are deeply saddened and outraged by the senseless killing of Kopi, an innocent stray dog, by the Local Council in Terengganu.

This cruel act is a violation of basic animal rights and contradicts the values of compassion and humane treatment. The handling of this case reflects a gross failure in how stray animals are managed in our country.

We urge the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) to conduct a full and thorough investigation into this brutal incident and to catch the culprit responsible under the Akta Kebajikan Haiwan 2015. The individuals who authorized and carried out this cruel act must be held accountable for violating animal welfare laws.

Kopi, a gentle and friendly stray known to the local community, did not deserve to lose its life in such a violent manner. The use of lethal force against stray animals is unacceptable and reflects a failure to apply more humane and ethical practices. We demand that local councils and authorities adopt better approaches in managing stray animals that uphold the welfare and dignity of all creatures.

We also call on Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Menteri Besar Terengganu, to take immediate action and ensure that the individuals involved are brought to justice. There must be consequences for those who act with cruelty and disregard for life.

This incident is not an isolated case, and it highlights the need for stricter enforcement of the Akta Kebajikan Haiwan 2015. We, the people of Malaysia, demand the following actions:

1. A full investigation into the killing of Kopi and strict enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

2. Justice for Kopi through holding the responsible parties accountable for their cruel actions.

3. A ban on the use of lethal methods in handling stray animals by local councils and authorities.

4. Stricter regulations and oversight to ensure that stray animals are treated with compassion and respect.

We stand united in seeking justice for Kopi and ensuring that no other animal suffers such an unjust fate. By signing this petition, we call for a change in how stray animals are treated and demand that justice is served under the law.

Kopi’s life was cruelly taken, but our fight for justice and the protection of all stray animals will continue.

Sign this petition to ensure justice is served.

Sincerely,

Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia SAFM
