Justice for K-9 in Fayetteville, North Carolina

The Issue

An appalling incident of police animal abuse was caught on camera in Fayetteville, North Carolina in late June. In the video, a police officer can be seen lifting a K-9 off the ground by its collar and striking it repeatedly in the face. These horrific actions are unacceptable and cast a dark shadow on the trust the community places in our law enforcement officers. This petition demands that the Fayetteville Police Department takes immediate action to investigate the case and impose strict penalties against the officer involved. It is also pressing for enhanced training for all police officers handling K-9 units based on humane practices, to ensure that such cruelty does not occur in the future. Animal cruelty is considered a felony in all 50 US states, and since 2016 these offenses are tracked nationwide by the FBI due to their potential implications about violent crime (source: FBI National Incident-Based Reporting System). We urge everyone who wants a fair, just, and compassionate society to sign this petition. Your signature is a step forward in ensuring animals, especially those serving alongside our law enforcement, are protected and treated with the dignity deserved.
