Justin Rose, a dear friend, classmate, peer, community leader, and colleague, was wrongfully terminated from the University of Illinois – Springfield (UIS). For over a decade, both as a student and staff member, he devoted himself to UIS, striving tirelessly to improve an environment which, too often, felt hostile to the Black and POC communities.

He was not just an exemplary member of the UIS community but, as the Director of the Diversity Center, he used his position to fight for the rights of Black and POC students, working consistently for progress and equality. Despite his unwavering commitment to duty, his unrelenting dedication to cultivating an inclusive campus community, his role at UIS has been unjustly severed.

His absence is a massive loss to UIS, not just as an invaluable member of the staff, but also as a tireless advocate for marginalized communities within the university. Therefore, it is imperative that the University of Illinois – Springfield rectifies this gross injustice and immediately reinstates Justin Rose.
