The Issue

In the heart of Dearborn, Michigan, a shocking act of cruelty has shattered our community. A sweet, innocent 2-year-old pit mix named Ice was brutally tortured and killed.

The accused, 18-year-old Singin Nelson, has been charged with Killing/Torturing an Animal – Second Degree by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. He was arraigned before Chief Judge Sam Salamey in the 19th District Court and is currently out on a $250,000 cash bond.

Animal cruelty is not just a “pet issue.” Studies have shown strong links between animal abuse and future violence toward people. We cannot allow this kind of brutality to go lightly punished.

We call on Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney Kym L. Worthy and 19th District Court Chief Judge Sam Salamey to ensure that Singin Nelson receives the maximum possible penalty under Michigan law. This case must serve as a strong deterrent so that no one in Dearborn — or anywhere in Michigan — believes they can torture and kill an innocent animal with minimal consequences.

Ice’s suffering deserves real justice. Our community deserves to feel safe. By holding this case to the highest standard, we send a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.

Please sign and share this petition to demand full accountability and the strongest possible sentence in this case.

Thank you for standing up for Ice and for every vulnerable animal in our community.
