No More Lies. No More Cover Ups. Justice for Emile Koopman

 

The system failed US ONCE AGAIN. I’m doing this petition because I know it’s hard to lose a loved one and harder when the truth gets buried. A young man lost his life over reckless driving, and his family deserves answers and justice.

 

*Emile Koopman*, also known as _Mielo_, lost his life on *the 7th of July 2026* in Colorado Park, Mitchells Plain. Emile was 39. His car caught fire after a crash and he did not make it out.

 

We were initially told it was a medical emergency. That was not the case.  

The driver involved was a taxi driver, Arthur Williams, who was driving recklessly while busy on his cell phone with his 11-year-old daughter in the car.

 

Emile was a loving husband to *Lecheane Koopman*, a son, a brother, and a friend. Condolences to Lecheane who is having an incredibly hard time during this, and to his whole family and friends who are left broken.

 

THEY WERE ON THEIR PHONES BEHIND THE WHEEL.  

HE WAS JUST MAKING AN HONEST LIVING.  

NOW A WIFE IS PLANNING A FUNERAL INSTEAD OF A FUTURE.

 

This needs to become headlines. We need accountability for distracted and reckless driving. We need taxi operators held to a higher standard. We need courts to stop letting negligence slide.  

*LIVES SHOULDN’T END LIKE THIS BECAUSE SOMEONE COULDN’T PUT THEIR PHONE DOWN.*
