Ema Cardenas was a daughter, sister, cousin, the little girl next door and a best friend. A 14 year old girl whose life was cut short due to the actions of Terra Flipping on Thursday, April 28, 2022. 

Flipping hit Ema while she was walking home from school and then Flipping left the little girl at the scene where she died from her injuries. 24 hours later, after lawyering up, Flipping turned herself in to the Des Moines Police Department where she was charged with a class D felony because the law requires you to stay at the scene of an accident, especially when you hit children. Flipping, who works in a nightclub show band, has not offered condolences or showed remorse to date. The police did not administer alcohol and/or drug testing. Flipping pled not guilty. 

We ask Flipping be charged with vehicular homicide, a class B felony, for murdering this little girl by leaving her in the street to die in front of her neighbors and classmates after she smashed into her with her car. We believe that if Flipping would have stopped and helped administer aid to this daughter, sister, cousin, little girl next door and best friend, Ema would still be with us. 

We ask the community take a stand to condemn the actions of Flipping as well. 

Ema was a good little girl loved by many. She positively impacted everyone she crossed paths with and will be dearly missed by family, friends, neighbors and teachers too. She would have been 15  May 7th Please pray for her family.  A GoFundMe was setup for the family
