The Issue

The brutality against dogs in Pakistan is increasing day by day. Their lives are considered valueless. They are either poisoned, shot, or hanged. Recently, a man in the Malir region of Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, hanged five dogs in broad daylight at a farmer's market, while people chanted in excitement. This horrifying incident was witnessed by everyone, and one of the dogs was even pregnant. Shockingly, the perpetrator was acquitted on May 27th on an insanity plea.

Similarly, in the Lower Dir region of KPK, a cleric inserted a pick hammer down a dog's throat and instigated others to beat him with iron rods, resulting in the dog's death. Despite this heinous act, the culprit is currently out on bail. The absence of adequate animal protection laws in Pakistan leaves these innocent animals vulnerable to such cruelty. The existing law from 1861 is outdated and fails to provide sufficient safeguards for their well-being.

We urgently call for new laws that ensure the protection and safety of animals. It is imperative that cruelty towards animals is recognized and treated as a punishable crime. We aim to gather maximum signatures from individuals who believe that non-human citizens are equally valuable as human citizens within our state.

Together, let's raise our voices and demand justice for dogs in Pakistan. Join us in signing this petition to advocate for new legislation that safeguards their lives and holds perpetrators accountable for their acts of cruelty. Every signature counts as we strive for a society that values and protects all living beings.
